Jakarta, Gizmologi – Kesuksesan The Game Awards 2020 lewat tayangan broadcast, mendorong kembali hadirnya The Game Awards 2021. Rencananya acara penghargaan game tersebut akan digelar pada 9 Desember 2021 di Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, Amerika Serikat. The Game Awards juga berkolaborasi dengan Spotify memproduksi empat episode podcast bertajuk Inside The Game Awards.
Bagi yang belum tahu. The Game Awards merupakan acara penghargaan tahunan sejak 2014 yang digagas seorang jurnalis game asal Kanada bernama Geoff Keighley. Keighley sudah berkecimpung lama dalam industri game. Setidaknya sejak tahun 1994, saat pergelaran Cybermania ’94: The Ultimate Games Awards, dirinya sudah turut serta untuk melakukan liputan. Jadi kredibilitasnya tak perlu diragukan lagi.
The Game Awards 2021 dapat disaksikan melalui platform Youtube dan Twitch. Kedua platform tersebut juga sudah dapat dipakai melalui konsol Switch terbaru. Selain juga melalui konsol Playstation dan Xbox. The Game Awards 2021 akan dimulai sekitar pukul 5 sore waktu setempat. Di Indonesia yang punya perbedaan waktu hingga 12 jam lebih cepat, berarti sekitar pukul 5 pagi tanggal 10 Desember 2021.
The Game Awards 2021 memiliki banyak kategori dan daftar nominasi yang panjang, dan telah diumumkan sebelumnya. Penghargaan ini tidak menggunakan sistem voting melainkan ada juri tetap yang telah dipilih untuk menentukan game terbaik dari tiap kategorinya.
